The trial of Cooper Ouellette is underway as the 19-year-old faces charges in the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend, Sophie Ringquist. Prosecutors allege Ouellette ran over Ringquist with his truck in May 2023 after a night of drinking and arguments, including alleged physical abuse. According to the arrest warrant, investigators say cell phone data, surveillance footage and other evidence contradict Ouellette’s claim that Ringquist jumped from the moving vehicle. Ringquist was taken to the hospital but died from blunt impact injuries, and Ouellette has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
