E12 / SOURCE-LINKED RECORD

Clothing debris and glass comparisons

Hanley described comparisons involving plastic particles and separate groups of glass fragments.

What the record shows

Her testimony distinguished particles consistent with taillight plastic from larger physical-fit comparisons. Six scene pieces were described as fitting the drinking glass; bumper glass was not identified by a physical fit to that glass.

Limits and disputed context

Material consistency is not unique identification of every particle. Glass from different recovery locations must not be silently combined into a single matched source.
